Ryzen 7000 release date, AMD’s Zen 4 CPU launch approaches

AMD confirmed the Ryzen 7000 release date at their “Together we advance PCs” event back on the 29th of august. This means you can pick up a Zen 4 CPU on September 27, 2022.

Zen 3 was a blast, so the upcoming launch is a highly anticipated one, to say the least.

The Ryzen 7000 series will include four shiny new CPU SKUs – The Ryzen 9 7950X, Ryzen 9 7900X, Ryzen 7 7700X, and Ryzen 5 7600X.

AMD Ryzen 7000 release date confirmed, save the date

Ryzen 7000 series processors release on September 27th but can we expect another paper launch?

It feels like those dark, paper-launch days are behind us but as we approach the big date, our fingers are well and truly crossed.

Only time will tell if we can purchase these chips on the day of release and with AMDs recent showcase showing off some fascinating stats, these could well fly off the shelves.

Earlier in the year, AMD estimated Zen 4 would bring in an 8% – 10% uplift in IPC. Since, with AMD optimizing, they have seen an IPC uplift closer to 13%.

Ryzen 7000 release date SKUs

As we know, there will be four new CPU SKUs covering a variety of price points.

On release we will be able to buy:

  • Ryzen 5 7600X: $ 299 – (6 cores; 12 threads) clocked @ 4.7 GHz (base); up to 5.3 GHz (boost); 38MB cache; 105W TDP
  • Ryzen 7 7700X: $ 399 – (8 cores; 16 threads) clocked @ 4.5 GHz (base); up to 5.4 GHz (boost); 40MB cache; 105W TDP
  • Ryzen 9 7900X: $ 549 – (12 cores; 24 threads) clocked @ 4.7 GHz (base); up to 5.6 GHz (boost); 76MB cache; 170W TDP
  • Ryzen 9 7950X: $ 699 – (16 cores; 32 threads) clocked @ 4.5 GHz (base); up to 5.7 GHz (boost); 80MB cache; 170W TDP

The specs look mighty impressive but you will be required to upgrade your motherboard and RAM to take full advantage of their power.

Could the Ryzen 7000 release be another nail in Intel’s coffin?

Intel’s 13th generation of processors is also on the horizon but how does AMD’s Zen 4 lineup stack up against Intel 12th gen processors?

Well according to AMD, the Ryzen 9 7950X is up to 62% faster than the i9-12900K.

The two processors in question were tested across eight different applications (DOTA 2, SUBTR, Borderlands 3, CS: GO, V-Ray, Blender, Cinebench R23and POV-Ray), with AMDs flagship coming out way ahead.

Elsewhere on the SKU spectrum, the Ryzen 5 7600X was showcased as 11% faster than the Intel Core i9-12900K.

This is highly impressive for what is set to be a $ 300 processor, meaning AMD could easily be the value champion once again.

What retailers will sell Ryzen 7000 on release?

Generally speaking, every launch has gone on Amazon across many regions of the globe and it is more than likely to be the same once again.

Other retailers such as Best Buy will also stock the processor for those looking to shop in the US and Canada specifically.

For those in the UK and Europe, Amazon, Ebuyer, Scan, Overclockers, and many more should be selling Zen 4 processors.
